Effective Analysis Practices
The core practices of Effective Analysis are essentially guidelines and recommendations that, when applied correctly, increase the efficiency of analytical work and improve the readability of outputs. Together, they help reduce frustration for everyone involved in a project. They are intentionally not called "best practices" because every practice has its advantages and disadvantages, and there is no silver bullet that can guarantee success on every single project:
There are no rules, just good practices
"One size doesn't fit all," and specific techniques and approaches must be selected based on the needs of the particular activity. However, there are still core principles that every analyst should follow to be more effective and produce high-quality outputs.
The goal of this chapter is to provide analysts with a solid framework. It does not simply list dozens of techniques alongside advice to "choose according to your needs." Instead, it presents what actually works in specific situations across our industry.
